GoBalance Flaw Enables Hijacking of Hidden Web Addresses

A security flaw in GoBalance, a tool used to keep dark-web services online during attacks, allows threat actors to derive secret keys from public information. Using these recovered keys, attackers can hijack .onion addresses and redirect legitimate visitors to malicious clone websites. This creates a severe risk of traffic interception and impersonation for organizations operating hidden services.

How to mitigate it

  1. 1Audit systems to determine whether the GoBalance load balancer is deployed in your environment.
  2. 2Apply vendor-provided patches or disable vulnerable GoBalance instances until secure updates are available.
  3. 3Regenerate service private keys and migrate to new .onion addresses if GoBalance was used with existing keys.
