Hosted VoIP is priced per user per month and almost always lands below the combined cost of traditional lines, PBX maintenance and long-distance. Outsource IT quotes a fixed per-user rate that includes the platform, support and ongoing changes.
Yes. We port your existing numbers to the hosted platform and schedule the cutover outside business hours so calls keep flowing during the move.
Our hosted service includes Basic 911, which routes your call based on the address registered to your line. Keeping that registered address current is essential, and the details are on our VoIP 911 page.
Most Ontario businesses pay roughly $20 to $45 per user per month for hosted VoIP, depending on whether you need basic extensions, contact-centre queues, call recording, or Microsoft Teams calling. Handsets can be purchased or bundled.
Yes. We port existing local and toll-free numbers from your current carrier. Porting typically takes 10 to 15 business days in Canada, and we run the new system in parallel so there is no gap in service.
Calls fail over automatically to mobile devices or an alternate number, and softphone apps keep working on cellular data. For sites where phones are business critical, we add redundant internet with automatic failover.
Yes. We configure registered emergency addresses per device, support nomadic 911 for remote users, and meet CRTC next-generation 911 requirements, including notification to a designated internal contact when a 911 call is placed.
Yes. Screen pop on inbound calls, click-to-dial, and automatic call logging are supported for common platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, HubSpot, Clio, and many industry systems. We scope the integration during design rather than discovering the gap after cutover.
Expect $20 to $45 per user per month for hosted VoIP or cloud PBX in 2026. Basic extensions with voicemail and auto attendant sit at the low end. Call recording, contact-centre queues, CRM integration, and analytics push you toward the top. Handsets are $120 to $350 each, or you can run softphones only.
Teams Phone makes sense when your staff already live in Teams all day and your call flows are simple. A dedicated VoIP platform wins when you need advanced queues, reception consoles, paging, overhead speakers, elevator or door phones, or heavy call recording. Many Ontario clients run a hybrid: Teams for knowledge workers, a VoIP platform for reception and operations.
Local number ports typically take 10 to 15 business days, toll-free ports 7 to 10. We run the new system in parallel with your old lines and cut over only after test calls pass, so no customer call is lost during the transition.
The CRTC requires VoIP providers to deliver accurate location information for emergency calls. Each device needs a registered civic address, remote and nomadic users must be able to update their location, and next-generation 911 support is now mandatory. We also configure internal notification so a designated contact knows the moment someone dials 911.
Each concurrent call uses roughly 100 kbps in each direction, so bandwidth is rarely the limit. Quality problems come from jitter, packet loss, and unprioritized traffic. We assess your circuit, apply quality-of-service rules on the firewall, put voice on its own VLAN, and monitor call quality scores after go-live.
