Telegram Android Flaw Allowed Attackers to Run Code via Voice Calls

A security vulnerability in the Telegram app for Android allowed attackers to run malicious code on a victim's smartphone as soon as an incoming voice call was answered. The attack required nothing more than an ordinary Telegram account to execute. Organizations with employees using Telegram on Android devices could face compromised devices and data exposure if the app is outdated.

Organizations and individuals using Telegram on Android devices running versions prior to 12.10.4.

How to mitigate it

  1. 1Update Telegram for Android to version 12.10.4 or later immediately across all workplace devices.
  2. 2Verify that automatic application updates are enabled in the Google Play Store on all managed and personal employee phones.
